The John Arpin Mansion

History Tour

John Arpin, whose family owned the John Arpin Lumber Company in Arpin, built the house in 1889 for his wife, Clarice and named it Le Chateau. According to the Wisconsin Historical Society, it was one of the few modern homes at the time to have electricity, running water and telephone. One of the Arpin daughters eventually turned the home into three apartments, then sold it outside of the family.
